Week 4
This week I was lucky enough to attend a Boulder Green Building Guild lecture and expose on another net zero house that was constructed in Boulder. Through this process I was able to meet the head green architect in boulder Jim Logan. We currently just partnered with him to work on the Boulder Energy Project. The Boulder Energy Project is targeted at making Boulder a net zero town by 2020. The first step that I have helped participate in is assessing the current consumption of energy in Boulder, followed by step two which we at Simple Solar are starting to address is finding renewable solutions for Boulder. Also during my last week I have looked at several different ways to decrease energy in homes such as eliminating phantom loads, checking insulation, and a bit of a new technology of energy feed in heating/cooling solutions. I also did research on CFL’s and learned that LED’s are overall better. |
