Street LightingStreet Lighting'''Our presentation hopes to show that by introducing new alternatives to street lighting, we can save large quantities of money and help reduce co2 emissions. We will discuss the history of street lights ( in brief) and then go on to discuss common forms of street lighting systems. We will go into many aspects of these systems such as type of light, energy usage, safety, and wattage. Next we will talk about how much these specific type of systems work. Charts will display what they look like, annual operating costs, annual energy costs, maintenance cost and overall cost of each system. Next we will talk about the alternatives to the common street lighting systems. One alternative, and the most feasible, is LED ( light emitting diode). We will explain how they work and why they are the most realistic. Case studies will also be presented to show how it can be done and how Fairfield can use it as a model. Numbers on costs will also be made available to truly see how money is being saved. We will also give names of companies that provide these more efficient and effective lighting fixtures. The dark sky society will also be mentioned to touch on the idea of where the light from streets and parkways is going and how it is effecting us. We will try to show how if Fairfield is a perfect place to see these changes take place. ''' |
