Grading Policy

September 2006

Solar Energy Engineering:
The Energy Basis of Man and Nature

Maharishi University of Management

Course projects are listed below. Grading will be based on completing required projects plus choosing from optional projects listed below. By participating in enough projects, anyone can get an A.

Required Projects

1. Select and read an article on energy in The Economist magazine and give an oral report - 10% - required
2. Select and read an article in Home Power magazine and give an oral report– 10% - required
3. Interview a speaker at Irenew, write up the interview or prepare an audio or video version of it – 25 % (10% extra credit for digital media version of the interview) - required
4. Quizzes – 10% - required
5. Letter to the editor – 15% - required
6. Talent show – Bonus 20% - Required
7. Memorize terms – one on one testing/coaching - sign off – 5% - required
8. Write an article for the Fairfield Energy Wiki – 20%

Optional Projects

1. Wind blade Project – 15% - Optional
2. Digital Media Team - 25% - Optional
3. Winter Gardening project – 20% Optional
4. Systems Monitoring Team – 20% Optional
