Slow Food Definition

Slow Food is an association which is opposed to the degrading effects of the culture of fast-food which standardizes tastes; who promotes the beneficial effects of the deliberate consumption of local food, which has programmes of taste/gastronomic education for the adults and the children, which works for the safeguard and the promotion of public awareness of culinary traditions. Slow food is an ecogastronomic organization.

Slow Food Movement is the antithesis of globalization and genetically modified foods—those forces that try to make the world uniform and flat.

Slow Food works to create food systems that are good, clean, and fair: good, because pleasure at the table should be a basic human right, clean, because food systems should be safe and be grwon without chemicals, and fair, available to everyone at a reasonable price, with fair wages and working conditions for those who grow and process our food.
